About the Event:

This event will create a shared vision of integrating food and health care, especially pertaining to federal, state, and local food policy. This symposium is an opportunity for food and health care advocates, researchers, and policy makers to learn about the ways in which they might integrate food and health care into future projects and initiatives. The event will include:

  • Dr. Ricardo Salvador from the Union of Concerned Scientists shares his thoughts on federal food policy and health care initiatives.
  • State and local food policy council leaders — including Abbey Piner (Community Food Strategies, Center for Environmental Farming Systems), Sam Hoefler (Durham Farm and Food Network), Ann Meletske (Alamance Food Collaborative), and Carl Vierling (Greater High Point Food Alliance) — discuss their work around the intersection of food and health care.
